DEDICATION

SHS Class of 1965 Gift

Commemorative Plaque & Mascot Donation

OCTOBER 14, 2022

Looking back to our Senior year in high school sometimes things were good, sometimes not so much.  We were anxious to get on with our lives and looked forward to graduation.  We did lots of different things and knew different classmates.  But we were all part of the "Sensational Sixities" and SPIRIT was one of those things that often tied us together.  There were games, dances, pep rallies, "walking the halls" with spirit buttons and cheers.  When the 64-65 Varsity cheerleaders added a "school mascot" into the mix, it just worked.  It was all those "little things" put together that set the path forward to a tradition of "Streaky Bear".

58 years later, as a Class, we have come to appreciate the long tradition of "Streaky Bear"... and it is a BIG THING. We now find it both timely and appropriate that the history of Streaky Bear be preserved, not just in recognition of the vision of the Class of '65, but as a constant reminder that SCHOOL SPIRIT always starts within and because of students!  And it is with thanks and gratitude to the many SHS students who have continued with the tradition of "Streaky Bear" for nearly five decades.
